Advice for longevity:
An eiderdown duvet is a true natural wonder, adapting effortlessly to the body and its temperature. With proper care, it preserves its exceptional qualities for decades.
-
It is best to gently shake the duvet in the morning to prevent the down from clumping, and to turn it over. This allows the down to breathe and helps any moisture from the night evaporate more easily.
-
It is recommended to regularly rotate the duvet inside the cover, so that the label alternates between the head and foot ends. This ensures even use and distributes wear more evenly over time.
-
Always lie under the duvet, not on top of it.
-
Use a duvet cover, as it protects the duvet from dirt, sweat, and general wear.
-
It is not recommended to place heavy bedspreads over the duvet. Eiderdown needs to maintain its natural structure, and continuous pressure from above can, over time, damage its loft and internal structure.
-
Air out the duvet regularly. Sunny summer days help the down regain loft and release moisture and odors. Cold, frosty conditions can also be refreshing and may have antibacterial effects.
-
Washing the duvet in a washing machine is not recommended unless necessary. If needed, wash on a 30°C delicate cycle with extra rinsing. Then tumble dry it, removing it occasionally to shake it. Adding two tennis balls to the dryer can help maintain the loft. If in doubt, we recommend consulting a professional laundry service.
-
When not in use, store the duvet in a dry place. It is best kept in a spacious, breathable bag, such as the cotton bag it came in.
